Big 12 Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors: Week of Nov. 24
In the latest roundup of Big 12 women’s basketball performances, TCU’s Marta Suarez and Houston’s Jade Jones have earned notable accolades for their contributions during the third week of the 2025-26 season. They are joined by Baylor’s Taliah Scott, Cincinnati’s Caliyah DeVillasee, and Iowa State’s Audi Crooks in the conference’s Starting Five, recognizing outstanding achievements across the league.
Marta Suarez Shines for TCU
Marta Suarez, a graduate forward from TCU, received the Big 12 Player of the Week award following a stellar week that included back-to-back double-doubles in victories over Tarleton State and UTRGV. Her efforts have helped TCU secure a program record home winning streak of 29 games, currently tied for the longest in NCAA Division I history. Suarez has been a consistent force for the Horned Frogs, leading the team in scoring in three consecutive games and four times this season alone. Currently, she ranks among the top players nationally, averaging over 19 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while also shooting 40% from three-point range. This marks Suarez’s first Player of the Week accolade from the Big 12.
Jade Jones: Rising Star for Houston
Freshman forward Jade Jones has made an impactful entry into collegiate basketball, earning the title of Big 12 Freshman of the Week. Averaging 16 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 steals over three contests, Jones displayed remarkable shooting accuracy at 61.1% from the field. In her initial career start against UTRGV, she led her team with a personal-best 18 points, contributing to a buzzer-beater that secured Houston’s first road win since February 17, 2024. Jones not only maintained her starting role in the following game against High Point but also recorded her first career double-double, delivering 16 points and 12 rebounds. This recognition marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first Houston player to receive a weekly honor in women’s basketball from the Big 12.
