Match Recap: Macalester vs. Bethel
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Macalester College women’s tennis team faced a challenging opponent in Bethel University, concluding the MIAC dual with a comprehensive 9-0 defeat. This match took place at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
With this loss, Macalester’s record now stands at 3-13 overall and 1-7 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). Meanwhile, Bethel advances to an impressive 13-3 overall record and solidifies their position with an 8-1 conference record, currently placing them second in the MIAC standings.
During the match, Bethel dominated, winning all three doubles matches by considerable margins. The singles competition followed a similarly tough pattern for the Scots. Noteworthy was the performance of junior Elizabeth Trevathan, who competed vigorously against Michaella Sullivan in the No. 2 singles matchup. After a tightly contested first set, Trevathan ultimately succumbed, with the final score reading 6-4, 6-1.
Looking ahead, the Scots will host St. Olaf College in a crucial conference duel this Saturday, April 26, at the Hayden Tennis Courts, with the first matches scheduled to commence at 11:00 AM.
