In an impressive display of skill and composure, Becky Morgan from Wales triumphed at the U.S. Senior Women’s Open, held at San Diego Country Club. With a final round score of 3-under par 70, Morgan secured a commanding six-stroke lead over her nearest competitor, Juli Inkster.
Finishing the tournament with an overall score of 7-under 285, Morgan marked this event as her inaugural appearance since reaching the age of 50 in September. Her performance solidified her status as a noteworthy player in senior women’s golf, drawing from a successful background that includes victories on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tour.
Juli Inkster, the 65-year-old golf icon, concluded the tournament with a score of 71, placing her second overall. Following closely in third was Liselotte Neumann, who finished at even par with a final round of 74.
Both Maria McBride and Corina Kelepouris, who had shared the lead with Morgan after the third round, struggled in the final with scores of 78. They ended in a tie for fourth place at 1-over, which was also shared with the 2024 victor, Leta Lindley, who carded a 73.
Annika Sorenstam, the first-round leader, tied for eighth place after shooting a 72, concluding her tournament at 3-over par.
