Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Atlanta Dream Reinforce Commitment to Culture and Women’s Sports
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) has announced an exciting expansion of its multi-year partnership with the Atlanta Dream, aimed at enhancing the celebration of Black culture and promoting women’s sports. This collaboration is set to introduce new programs and activations that will resonate in the stands, on the court, and within the broader community.
Shared Values and Goals
At the core of this partnership lies a mutual dedication to elevating Black voices and investing in community-focused initiatives while advancing equity in both sports and media. The AJC’s media brand, UATL, is specifically designed to showcase and uplift Atlanta’s vibrant Black culture.
Introducing Culture Fridays
A prominent element of this collaboration is the “Culture Fridays” series, a fan-favorite initiative presented by UATL. These themed game nights transcend mere entertainment; they aim to authentically celebrate the cultural richness of Atlanta, especially highlighting Black excellence. Attendees can anticipate curated live performances, local artistry, and storytelling that capture the essence of the city.
“Culture Fridays are where community, creativity, and culture collide,” stated Amie Green, Head of Marketing at the AJC. “Through the Dream partnership, we’re proud to elevate our journalism and UATL brand as a citywide celebration of identity, artistry, and belonging.”
Enhancing Coverage of Women’s Sports
In addition to cultural initiatives, the AJC is expanding its commitment to women’s sports by providing consistent, in-depth coverage of the Atlanta Dream, thereby boosting the visibility of female athletes.
Community Engagement Initiatives
The partnership includes sponsorship of the Emerging Dreamers Program, designed to engage college students in civic leadership by connecting them with the King Center’s Beloved Community. This program aims to foster leadership skills and promote civic responsibility.
Fans should also look out for the upcoming “Enter to Win” contest, presenting exclusive experiences related to the Dream, alongside UATL’s sponsorship of HBCU Night—a significant event honoring the impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Strategic Partnership Insight
“We’re thrilled to partner with the AJC, a trusted voice in Atlanta,” remarked Laila Brock, Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Community Impact for the Dream. “Together, UATL and the Atlanta Dream are building a platform that celebrates the culture of Atlanta, empowers the next generation of leaders, and champions the strength of women’s sports.”
A Fan-Focused Merchandise Collaboration
The inaugural season of this partnership also featured a unique fan merchandise collaboration, allowing supporters to vote on exclusive UATL x Atlanta Dream T-shirt designs. The winning design was sold during home games, with proceeds benefiting Atlanta Public Schools, effectively merging fan engagement with community support.
