In an inspiring commitment to support women in research, Sony Group Corporation (Sony) in partnership with Nature, has announced the opening of the application period for the 2026 Sony Women in Technology Award. This prestigious annual award aims to recognize and empower early to mid-career women researchers in technology fields such as science, engineering, and mathematics. Their innovative work is key to making a positive impact on society and our planet.
The award will identify three exceptional women researchers whose contributions advance the field of technology and create meaningful advancements. Winners will be announced in early 2026, each receiving a substantial prize of
$250,000 U.S. Dollars to further their research efforts and to showcase their achievements on nature.com.
Submissions will undergo evaluation by a distinguished panel of global experts, including Nature’s Editor-in-Chief,
Magdalena Skipper, and
Hiroaki Kitano, CTO of Sony Group Corporation. Each application will be assessed based on ambition, innovation, conceptual excellence, and social significance.

The award is open to all who self-identify as women and are involved in research and development in technology. Eligible candidates, including those affiliated with universities, research institutes, or university spin-out companies, are encouraged to apply.
