Anna Huang, a promising 16-year-old golfer from Canada, surged to the forefront during the AIG Women’s Open Final Qualifying held on Monday. With an impressive performance, she secured the lowest score of the day, ensuring her participation in the upcoming 2025 AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl, which features a field of 144 players.
Throughout her round at the Pyle and Kenfig Golf Club, Huang displayed exceptional skill, particularly on the front nine where she concluded at an impressive six-under-par. Her round included four birdies and an eagle, showcasing her ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Despite encountering three bogeys on the back nine that briefly threatened her position, Huang managed to regain her composure and birdied the 16th hole, finishing with a score of four-under-par (67), placing her at the top of the leaderboard among the 107 competitors.
Reflections on the Round
In her comments after the round, Huang expressed her happiness with the day’s results: “I’m delighted with my score. On the front nine, I just stayed really patient, didn’t miss any fairways and the putts dropped.” She acknowledged her adaptation to links golf, indicating that it took a few practice rounds to feel comfortable on the course.
