AAP Women’s Wing Protests Allegations of Vote Buying by BJP Leader
Members of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) women’s wing held a demonstration outside the residence of BJP leader Parvesh Verma. They accused Verma of attempting to sway voters in the New Delhi Assembly constituency by distributing cash to female constituents.
Calls for Action from Election Commission
Sarika Chaudhary, the President of AAP’s Delhi State Women’s Wing, denounced Verma’s alleged actions, labeling them as serious threats to the integrity of democracy. Chaudhary urged the Election Commission to take immediate action to address these claims.
Allegations of Cash Distribution
The protest was prompted by allegations that Verma distributed Rs 1,100 in cash to voters. AAP has characterized this move as a clear attempt at voter manipulation. The demonstrators called for greater transparency in the electoral process and demanded an inquiry into the targeted cash distribution purportedly aimed at influencing the votes of women in particular.
Women Empowerment at the Forefront
The AAP women’s wing emphasized the importance of protecting women’s rights in the political arena, insisting that electoral practices must honor equality and fairness. The protest sought to highlight the need for secure elections free from coercive tactics that undermine the voices of women voters.
