MIT Women’s Teams Achieve Historic NCAA Wins in 2024-25

Cross Country Championship
In November, the MIT women’s cross country team made waves by winning their first national championship after securing their fourth consecutive NCAA East Regional Championship. All-American performances were delivered by standout runners Christina Crow ’25, Rujuta Sane ’26, and Kate Sanderson ’26, showcasing their extraordinary talents.
Indoor Track and Field Triumph
March witnessed another historic milestone as the indoor track and field team amassed a record 49 points, the highest total ever achieved by an MIT women’s team at a national indoor meet. This impressive score led to their first national title, further cementing their dominance in this sport.
Swimming and Diving Success
Just a week later, the swimming and diving team secured their first-ever national championship, winning three individual titles and four relays. Kate Augustyn ’25 concluded her illustrious collegiate career at MIT with an outstanding record of four individual national titles, four relay championships, and 27 All-America honors.
Outdoor Track and Field Victory
The final chapter of this historic season unfolded in May, when the outdoor track and field team also claimed their first national championship. With this victory, MIT achieved a groundbreaking milestone, becoming the first institution to sweep the NCAA Division III national titles in women’s cross country, as well as both indoor and outdoor track and field in a single year.
