Kering Announces Lineup for Women in Motion Talks at Cannes Film Festival
Kering, in collaboration with Variety, has unveiled the preliminary schedule for this year’s Women in Motion Talks, which celebrate the contributions of women in the film industry. Set to take place during the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, these sessions feature a diverse array of influential figures in cinema.
Talk Lineup Highlights
- May 16: Variety’s Tatiana Siegel will moderate a discussion with filmmaker Gaya Jiji, director and screenwriter Rungano Nyoni, and actors Amina Khalil and Sarah Taibah. The focus will be on the Red Sea Film Festival.
- May 17: Internationally renowned actress and singer-songwriter Charlotte Gainsbourg will engage in conversation with Angelique Jackson from Variety. Gainsbourg currently stars in the new series “Étoile” alongside Luke Kirby, available on Prime Video.
- May 18: Nicole Kidman, who will be honored with Kering’s 10th Women in Motion Award, is set to speak with Jackson. Kidman joins the ranks of past recipients including Jane Fonda, Geena Davis, and Michelle Yeoh.
- May 19: Dakota Johnson and Ro Donnelly, co-founders of Tea Time Pictures, will discuss their film “Splitsville,” which is premiering at the festival. Johnson also stars in this production, written and directed by Michael Angelo Covino.
- May 20: Actress/singer Taraji P. Henson will engage with Dr. Stacy L. Smith, founder of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, in another session moderated by Jackson.
- May 21: Carla Simón will speak with Jackson about her film “Romería,” which is premiering at Cannes. This marks Simón’s third directorial work and her debut in the Palme d’Or competition.

The Women in Motion Talks are designed to promote gender equality within the film industry, focusing on both on-screen and behind-the-scenes contributions. This year’s discussions are invitation-only and will be shared on Variety’s platforms and Kering’s social media channels using the hashtag #WomenInMotion.
