Riley Gaines has voiced her thoughts regarding the recent revival of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, a proposal introduced by Congressman William Gregory Steube from the US House of Representatives.
The 24-year-old activist shared her response on her X account (formerly known as Twitter), stating:
“Congressman @RepGregSteube is set to reintroduce the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. Men don’t belong in women’s sports. The fact that this even has to be said reflects the utter disregard for common sense that we’ve witnessed in the past four years.”
In a recent event, Gaines also expressed her sorrow over a tragic terrorist attack in New Orleans that resulted in the deaths of at least 15 individuals. She lamented on her X timeline:
“Sad you have to consider the possibility of getting plowed down by a terrorist when making NYE plans. This is the America Biden has created.”
Gaines has long been an outspoken opponent of the NCAA’s policies favoring trans athletes. She has also criticized the changes to Title IX made by the previous administration, claiming that these modifications were simply tactics to suppress any dissent against the inclusion of trans athletes in women’s sports.
Riley Gaines Responds to Controversy at MLK High School
The debate surrounding MLK High School in California continues to escalate. The school’s administration has faced accusations of being dismissive toward parents, emphasizing that the inclusion of a trans athlete takes precedence over other concerns.
In an interview with Fox News, the parents of protesting students disclosed details of their interaction with the school’s administration. They noted that despite the trans athlete’s minimal participation in practice, the school remained insistent on her inclusion.
“All the administrators at Martin Luther King have expressed the sentiment, and the Title IX coordinator for the Riverside Unified School District has told multiple girls on campus that as a cisgender girl, they do not have the same rights as a transgender girl,” stated Ryan Starling, father of student Taylor Starling.
Reacting to these developments, Gaines posted on her X handle:
“They said the quiet part out loud. You’re foolish if you ever believed it was about ‘equal rights’.”
Since 2022, Riley Gaines has been an advocate for excluding trans athletes from women’s sports. She gained notoriety for her criticisms of the NCAA regarding trans swimmer Lia Thomas’s participation in the 2022 NCAA Championships.
