Emily Holzopfel from Rayland and Sabrina Coffman from Toledo secured medalist honors at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Qualifier held on Monday at Wetherington Golf & Country Club in West Chester, near Cincinnati. Their impressive performance not only highlighted their skills but also earned them a spot in the prestigious Four-Ball Championship scheduled for next May at Daniel Island Club in Charleston, South Carolina.
Holzopfel, a previous winner of the Women’s NEOAm and a recent qualifier for this year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bandon Dunes, teamed up with Coffman, a former Cleveland State University golfer and two-time Women’s Cleveland Amateur champion. Together, they posted an outstanding qualifying score of 65, successfully clinching the top spot.
In a competitive atmosphere, two other teams achieved a score of 67, necessitating a playoff to determine which pair would advance alongside Holzopfel and Coffman. The playoff was won by Eva Lim from Columbus and Alyssa Zhang from Pittsburgh, allowing them to join the qualifiers for the upcoming championship. They edged out the team of Isabella Wiley from Bagdad, Kentucky, and Claudia Hofmeister from Tampa, Florida.
