ATLANTA (May 16, 2025) – The U.S. Soccer Federation has officially unveiled the roster of 21 athletes selected to compete in the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship, set to take place in Costa Rica. This pivotal tournament serves as the qualifying event for the 2025 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Comprised of players born in 2006 and 2007, the team will be led by U.S. U-19 head coach Carrie Kveton, with Vicky Jepson set to take over as the head coach post-tournament.

The U.S. aims to secure one of four available spots for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, striving for their extraordinary eighth Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship title. The team previously dominated the competition in 2020 and 2022, while Mexico claimed the trophy in 2023.

Group Stage Matches

The USA is scheduled to compete in Group A, facing the following teams:

  • Guyana – May 30, 1 p.m. ET (11 a.m. local)
  • Puerto Rico – June 1, 1 p.m. ET (11 a.m. local)
  • Costa Rica – June 3, 4 p.m. ET (2 p.m. local)

The tournament will run from May 29 to June 8, 2025, in Alajuela, Costa Rica, culminating in the semifinals on June 6 and the final on June 8. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semifinals, aiming for a final berth and opportunity to represent the region at the World Cup.

Team Composition

The roster features a balance of young talent, nearly evenly split between the two eligible birth years: 10 players born in 2006 and 11 in 2007. Prior to their journey to Costa Rica, the squad will gather for a training camp in Florida from May 22 onwards.

Notably, the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will see an increase in participating nations from 16 to 24.

Professional Presence and Past Experience

This roster marks a historic moment, featuring the highest number of professional players (six) ever selected for a U-20 Concacaf qualifying event. Among the professional athletes, Chloe Ricketts, Mary Long, and Katie Scott represented the USA at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, finishing third. Players like Kealey Titmuss, Sealey Strawn, and other collegiate athletes offer a blend of talent and experience to the squad.

Final Preparations and Training

Ahead of their competitive debut in Costa Rica, two additional training players, defender Kiara Gilmore and midfielder Riley Cross, will join the team during the Florida camp. Their participation underscores the preparation and depth of talent the coaching staff aims to develop as the championship approaches.
