AIG Women’s Open 2025: Prize Money and Current Standings

The R&A has announced that the 2025 AIG Women’s Open will feature a record-setting total prize purse, adding to the growing momentum of women’s golf on a global stage. This initiative continues from the significant increases seen in 2024, showcasing a commitment to elevating the championship’s prestige.

Current Prize Purse Details

As competitors vie for the historic trophy at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club, they also aim for a substantial financial reward. The winner of the 2025 championship will receive approximately $1.5 million from an overall purse of $9.75 million. This marks a remarkable escalation from previous years, as the total purse has consistently risen since AIG became the title sponsor in 2019, when it was $4.5 million.

Previous Winners and Their Earnings

Last year, Lydia Ko secured her third major title at St. Andrews, earning over $1.4 million. In contrast, Lilia Vu claimed approximately $1.3 million the year before at Walton Heath. The evolution of the prize money reflects the increasing recognition and support for women in professional golf.

Standings and Competitive Landscape

As the tournament progresses, Japan’s Miyu Yamashita currently leads the standings with a total score of nine-under through 54 holes. However, the competition remains fierce, with South Korea’s A Lim Kim just one stroke behind, and six other players closely trailing within three strokes. As the final round approaches, the outcome remains uncertain, making for an exciting conclusion.
