Surveillance footage captured the latter moments of the collision, showing the pickup truck striking stationary vehicles before flipping and ultimately hitting a U-Haul truck. Witnesses recounted the scene as chaotic, with one bystander, Yusuf Peters from Upper Darby, noting, “It’s a very sad thing that happened.” Rob Rothacker from Bethlehem commented on the pandemonium, stating, “It was just bang, bang, bang, bang. Looked in my rearview mirror and cars were going left and right.” Another witness described the overwhelming noise from the collisions.
Response from Authorities
Chief Viola reflected on the scale of the accident, calling it “breathtaking” and emphasized the significant number of injuries and damaged vehicles involved. Emergency services transported eight individuals with non-life-threatening injuries to local hospitals, where they are expected to make a full recovery.
Community Reactions
One individual directly involved in the crash expressed gratitude for surviving the incident, stating, “I feel very fortunate walking away from this.” Many drivers whose vehicles were damaged shared a sense of relief that the injuries were not worse, emphasizing the value of life over property.
